Monroe, North Carolina
Spring and Fall missions were chosen to accommodate the growing season, to help with planting and spring clean-up, and harvesting and fall clean-up. The culture in the area is extremely varied; Hispanic, African Americans and Caucasian are among those who are served. There is a high population of Hispanic in the area, who are served specifically on the weekend, i.e., Saturday, when the Brothers provide families the opportunity to come, gather, learn, pray and share a meal at noon. Groceries are available for the families to take home and use throughout the week as needed. The people we serve have simple, basic needs of fellowship, food, and assistance given with love. MOP Brothers have and live by the motto – “Joyful Service with Christ on the Cross” and “The call to serve the Poor is an invitation to Happiness”. Their prayer experience is between 4 – 5 hours per day, beginning with the Angelus, Morning Prayer, Meditation, Mid-day Prayer, Evening Prayer and Night Prayer, followed by sacred silence and Personal Prayer.
